Description

Shows several workers, concentrating on one in the centre foreground, dressed only in a loin-cloth, using a pole to cultivate among plants in a sugar plantation. A little further off to the left, two workers work among the canes. In the middle distance at right, one worker of a group of three shoulders a bundle of canes. There are two European-style dwellings behind. These may be the buildings of the sugarworks of Mr Bicknell, noted in the French text (vol. 2, page 307) as having established a sugarworks on Ta-One point.

Plate 160 in Domeny de Rienzi's book. In the French edition, Danvin is inscribed as the copyist, and Chollet as the engraver.
