Description

Shows a man (front view at left), and a woman (back view at right), both dressed in loin cloths, to display tattoing on the trunk and limbs. Both wear earrings, and have their hair bound on top of their heads.

Plate 102 in Domeny de Rienzi's book. French edition (1835-36), has same plate and has the additional information that Danvin was the copyist. Milot engraved the French version, but the engraver for the Italian version is not given (it may also have been Milot).

Plate 28 in Litke's "Voyage autour du monde 1826-29" (1835-36), where it is attributed to Postels, one of the artists on the voyage.
