Description

Poster-sized print of an illuminated address by King George VI, particularly addressed to the young people of Commonwealth countries, on the date of his coronation on 12 May 1937. Above the text is a photograph of the Royal Family bordered with a pattern of Maori motifs and carved heads, inside an outer border of rose and thistle derivation. The New Zealand coat of arms is immediately below the photograph.

The remaining text reads "...In the years to come, some of you will travel from one part of the Commonwealth to another, and moving thus within the family circle will meet many whose thoughts are coloured by the same memories, whose hearts unite in devotion to our common heritage. You will learn, I hope, how much our free association means to us, how much our friendship with each other and with all other nations on earth can help the cause of peace and progress ..."
