Description

Shows two outrigger canoes with triangular sails. On a cross board on each, women dance, trailing feathers or fronds from their hands.

Plate 105 in Domeny de Rienzi's book. French edition (1835-36), has same plate and has the additional information that Danvin was the copyist. Colin engraved the French version, but the engraver for the Italian version is not given (it may also have been Colin).

Plate 24 in F P Litke's "Voyage autour du monde 1826-29" (1835-36), where it is attributed to Postels. The engraving in Litke is superior, and the background detail fuller.
