Shows British yacht with four sails, amongst nine waka, four of them with single sails erected.
Dating: W E and F Newton, opticians and globe makers, were located at 3 Fleet Street (the address printed on the wooden frame) between 1852 and 1857
Other Titles - Expedition on its way to Tauranga in 1833. New Zealand war expedition.

Almost identical to engraving entitled: "New Zealand War expedition", published in Church Missionary Quarterly papers, no. LXXVII, Lady Day, 1835; from an original drawing by Henry Williams: "Expedition on its way to Tauranga in 1833".
