Guided experiences and self-guided visits

We run guided school visits from 9am to 5pm, Tuesday to Friday. Self-guided visits can happen anytime during opening hours, but you need to book first.

On a guided experience, our knowledgeable learning facilitators will take you and your class on a tour of the document room, He Whakapapa Kōrero. We can tailor your experience to meet the needs of your class.

Guided experiences generally take 60 minutes. We recommend allowing an extra 15 minutes after the tour finishes to give you and your ākonga time to explore the document room independently.

Interactive webinar at your place

In this online, live webinar, you'll learn about the history and significance of He Whakaputanga, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Women's Suffrage Petition.

Book a time that suits your class. Webinars are 60 minutes long and include a 15-minute question time with a learning facilitator.

Te Puna Foundation learning programme

The Te Puna Foundation learning programme is for school groups visiting through the He Tohu Travel Fund.

The 2-hour tailored programme is held at the National Library and led by one of our learning facilitators. Ākonga will visit the document room, He Whakapapa Kōrero, and will participate in a range of hands-on activities.
