Description

Bound scrapbook of newspaper clippings with typescript note mounted on first free endpaper: "This volume of newspaper clippings concerning the first contingent New Zealand Mounted Rifles, the first troops to be sent overseas for active service from this Dominion, were collected by Captain Rockstrow and presented to the General Assembly Library by the First Contingent N. Z. M. R. Association. July, 1955." Comprises newspaper clippings including some with annotated dates, portraits and other illustrations likely taken from illustrated newspapers, and other printed matter. Source titles include: 'Auckland Star'. Note: illustrations include image of battlefield with corpses.
