Menu from an Auckland restaurant, offering a wide choice. Specialities included various steaks, beef Strognoff, Vienna Schnitzel, Hungarian goulash, roast turkey. The foreword argues the case for allowing alcohol to be served with restaurant food. The back page gives an introduction to the cover artist, David Kennedy.
The front cover designed by David Kennedy shows an armour-clad knight as a restaurant patron, being served with a tin-opener.
The menu predates December 13, 1961, when the Gourmet got its first liquor licence.
