Description: Menu from an Auckland restaurant, offering a wide choice. Specialities included various steaks, beef Strognoff, Vienna Schnitzel, Hungarian goulash, roast turkey. The foreword argues the case for allowing alcohol to be served with restaurant food. The back page gives an introduction to the cover artist, David Kennedy. The front cover designed by David Kennedy shows an armour-clad knight as a restaurant patron, being served with a tin-opener. Meals included pizza, salads, charcoal broiled steaks, egg dishes, lobster tails, sandwiches, cheeses, sweet pies and waffles. The back cover has a message from Jim Jennings, the American proprietor, and refers to Otto Groen, who ran the Gourmet Restaurant. It advertises the Sunday "Parade of Chefs" in which chefs from the Gourmet Restaurant would serve additional special dishes at the Hi Diddle Griddle. The front cover shows an illustration by "Ricky" of the nursery rhyme "Hi Diddle Diddle".
