A full-frontal portrait of a Tongan man, looking distinctly European with pale skin. He wears an elaborate head-dress and a lei around his neck, with a decorative skirt and wide upper arm bands. He carries a quiver of arrows on his back and leans casually on the bow, his hand on his hip
The work is likely to be from Grasset de Saint-Sauveur's 'Encyclopedie des voyages ...' published in Paris in 1796
