At a dinner party the tipsy host, with an enormous wineglass in hand, tells his dismayed guests (with normal wineglasses) 'I'm drinking the new, healthy, govt approved, lower calorie, lower alcohol wine, and I'm feeling so much better already...'
On 27 November 2013 it was announced that New Zealand aimed to be the world's leading producer of high-quality, lower calorie and lower alcohol lifestyle wines, with a research programme facilitated by a new Primary Growth Partnership (PGP) between the wine industry and the Ministry for Primary Industries. But would higher consumption cancel out any benefits?
