Text at the bottom of the cartoon refers to a man's enquiry at the box office: "No - it's a doco on the history of Afghanistan - countless confused intruders eventually throwing in the towel and heading home." Refers to the ongoing war in Afghanistan and may refer to the announcement in September 2013 that New Zealand troops would withdraw from that country by April 2014. May also refer to media rumours in October 2013 that the United States was not preparing to withdraw troops in the foreseeable future.
