The words, 'Thought to be extinct, the lesser trusted Minister Bird returns to the swamp after putting his foot in an ACC trap' Refers to National Party MP Nick Smith, a former member of cabinet who held portfolios for the environment, climate change issues, and local government, before resigning from all cabinet positions after failing to avoid a conflict of interest when he was minister for the Accident Compensation Corporation. In January 2013, Prime Minister John Key appointed Smith back to cabinet, giving him the housing and conservation portfolios.
