The log, kept by the First Mate of the Nimrod, records the voyage to Ross Island, problems in locating members of the expedition, and the return to Lyttelton. Includes detailed meteorological and other observations, and lists of crew and expedition members.
On 1 December 1908 the Nimrod sailed from Lyttelton to pick up members of the British Antarctic Expedition under Ernest Shackleton. The ship was commanded by Captain F P Evans, Captain Rupert England having been replaced.
Relationship complexity - QMS-0605 contains the log of the original voyage of the Nimrod under Captain England.
