Description

Shows views in the Wellington area. The top view looks along Petone beach to the south-east, with Petone Pa and the 'Native Chapel' (the large building on the left). The central view, taken from Tinakori Road's junction with Hawkestone Street, looks towards Kelburn. There is a bullock cart in the foreground, and three Maori carrying large bundles. The nearest house, on the lower slopes of Tinakore Hill, is that of Nathaniel Levin, with the house of Mr Holroyd above it, and Mr Dorset's house further in the distance at the foot of the trees that cover the hill. The lowest view at Ohiro Bay (or valley) shows a flock of sheep attended by a shepherd and a large-single storied house nestled against trees, the home of Judge Halswell.
