The cartoon shows the 'NZRU' (New Zealand Rugby Union) as a string puppet whose strings are being pulled by John O'Neill, CEO of the Australian Rugby Union. The puppet says 'Sure we vetoed any more NZ Super Rugby franchises' and 'accepted Melbourne with next to no Aussies in it but there are strings attached..' Refers to rugby politics and the influence of Australian rugby administrator John O'Neill. The NZRU had tried to drop some provincial sides from the Super 14 tournament in an attempt to make the game more lucrative - they have changed their mind and the number of teams remains 14.
