Comprises complete set of the company's printed annual reports detailing its construction and operating activities.
Includes handwritten note of important dates at front, newspaper clippings, notices of meetings, prospectuses, maps and a copy of the Act effecting the purchase of the company.

Company founded in Jan 1881 by Wellington Chamber of Commerce to enable work to re-commence on the Wellington-Johnsonville railway line, begun by government in 1879 but stopped in 1880. The line was completed as far as Longburn, near Palmerston North, and officially opened on 1 Dec 1886. The government exercised its option and nationalised the line, buying the company's assets for £900,000, in 1908.
