Photographs of the Chatham Islands circa 1870s and 1880s, taken by Alfred Martin.
Images include landscapes, early carvings in caves (Moriori?), and a number of houses and farmsteads. The Shand house, R. Kerr's farm, and Mr Engst's home are all shown.
The last photograph shows crew members of the SS Kahu, with Captains Romeril and Hood.
