- Description
Shows Richard Pearse, the New Zealand farmer and inventor performed pioneering experiments in aviation. Pearse appears to have successfully flown and landed a powered heavier-than-air machine on 31 March 1903, some nine months before the Wright brothers though this claim is controversial. He is shown directing a horse-drawn plough with one hand while he reads a book on how birds fly with the other. Above his head is a flying machine.
