Contains very detailed accounts of the domestic situation of South Island Māori families living in traditional kainga; the accounts include information about the housing, health, employment and educational status of every single person in the various settlements, organised alphabetically.

These accounts were apparently compiled under the aegis of the Native Land Court, Wellington.
