Description: Photographs taken during the royal tour of New Zealand made by the Prince of Wales in 1920. Many of the images are of military inspections and displays by school children. There are also displays of Maori dancing and singing, the sailors of the HMS Renown, on which the prince had travelled , prior to their soccer match in Dunedin, the prince addressing the crowds etc. A number of the images are in two-part panoramas. Also included are four scenic photographs by the New Zealand Tourist Department which may have been taken in 1903. The photographer for the tour photographs was Guy. Description: Many of the windows depicted in this collection feature the jaggard angularity typical of art deco design. Others reflect the continuing influence of British art nouveau styles of the Edwardian period. These are often fused with 18th century ornamental styles also popular in late 19th and early 20th British decorative art design. In all the windows uncoloured glass, clear or textured, predominates, the pattern outlined by the leading. Quantity: 19 colour original transparency/ies.

SS Earnslaw on Lake Wakatipu. Mount Ruapehu, Aratiatia Rapids, and Huka Falls. Some prints in this collection have notes on the back in a consistant, neat handwriting. In three cases these are signed E N Webster, who advises that he arrived in Wellington 5 February 1918, and left 15 June 1922. During this period, as well as photographing Wellington and district, he travelled on holiday to New Zealand cities and tourist destinations. The photographs were taken between 1919 and 1921 judging from the prints that have dates. His second name was Norman, and this is the name he used to sign letters on postcards sent from Christchurch in 1919 to his mother, and a friend called May. There is also a note attached to an illustration of Ben Lomond in the collection on which he signs himself Norman Webster. In formation on the back of postcards indicate that he came from Australia, and in 1916 lived at Nambour, Queensland. Quantity: 148 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Programme shows the British and New Zealand flags on the cover, and inside the programme which began at 10 am with a procession of school children representing Britain and her allies. After speeches there was a social luncheon including the roasting of an ox by Maoris. Later there were children's sports, maypole, poi dances, Maori haka, and in the evening a fireworks display, a bonfire, and a dance in the town hall. Description: Photograph shows a scene on the road through Havelock, with the Methodist Church (later the Museum) and a single storey house. Along the road is a line of children dressed for a parade in nurses' and sailors' costumes and other fancy dress. Donated with a programme for the Peace Day celebration 19 July 1919, with donor information that the photograph may show the children's procession on that day. However this may not be a winter scene.
