Description

George V dubbing a new peer, while Sir Joseph Ward looks on, dressed in finery, including a crown. A long queue of other New Zealand Members of Parliament are lined up, waiting their turn. They are watched by Richard Seddon. A herald proclaims 'Duke de Wellington and Baron of de Hutt' with a trumpet, the New Zealand flag attached. Both the King and Ward are wearing crowns. Several of the men in the queue are named as Glover, Skerrett, Fowlds, McKenzie, Millar, Carroll (Sir James Carroll, dressed in a checked overcoat, far right), Stout, Nathan, Massey, Myers. Queen Mary sits on a throne in the background

Ward received a baronetcy during his visit to London for the Imperial Conference and the King's coronation in 1911. He had received a KCMG during the Royal visit of 1901
