A Scotsman in uniform with a very long sporran illustrates a report of an article about Scots soldiers having their kilts taken from them, but not their sporrans. Sir Joseph Ward is depicted as a dog tangled up in rope, 'dedicated to Mr D Jones' with a reference to giving a dog a long enough rope and he'll hang himself. 'Magician Poole' is shown placing an extinguisher, National Prohibition' over a barrel of alcohol. 'Messrs Allen and Herries are conducting the Opposition campaign, shows James Allen and William Herries flogging an almost dead horse, 'The Conservative Party'.
