- Description
Most of the volume continues the diary account from the previous volume (MS-1225). It begins with his journey further up the Whanganui River and back, with several lengthy descriptions of places visited. The diary then continues with accounts of office work in Wanganui before describing and expedition into the Rangitikei and Manawatu areas completing arrangements for the Rangitikei purchase.
Also included are notes made on his travels about various aspects of Maori beliefs and customs
