Shows political candidate Barclay, who was beaten in the polls by Bedford, 4682 to 2940.
In fact, although Barclay was defeated by Bedford, Millar and Arnold in the 1902 general election, he gained the Dunedin North seat in 1905, when he defeated Bedford. It is possible this clipping is from a 1902 issue of the Sketcher, rather than 1905, the date pencilled on it.
