Tammany refers to the fraudulent election practices, the graft, the corruption and other abuses that often characterised the Tammany administrations in the USA in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Description: Shows political candidate Barclay, who was beaten in the polls by Bedford, 4682 to 2940. In fact, although Barclay was defeated by Bedford, Millar and Arnold in the 1902 general election, he gained the Dunedin North seat in 1905, when he defeated Bedford.
