Description

Diary attributed to James Caygill from Yorkshire, a married steerage passenger aboard the `Amoor' during a voyage from England to Lyttelton. He describes the ship's progress, weather, shipboard life (interspersed with lines of verse), and his first impressions of Christchurch. Also a poem written by `Speightspeare' (Caygill?) in which he expresses his reason for immigrating
