Shows a large two-storied brick and half-timbered house with a conservatory, in an established garden with a curving drive at the front
The house shown is in Invercargill, 51 Herbert Street, and was the artist's own house. It was built in 1902. He lived in the house for approximately 4 years, leaving Invercargill in 1906, the year before this work was painted.
The conservatory shown was removed in later years, but was being replaced by the owners in 2007.
Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - C. H. Howorth delt. 1907. 'Wharepaka' [in brushpoint]
