Description

Shows Jim Anderton, Leader of the Progressive Party and Agriculture Minister operating a fairground sideshow. He is wearing a hat labelled 'Economic Policy network' and has on a tray around his neck a selection of pies labelled 'Boo', 'Hiss', 'Wot about the unemployed?' and 'Why sell S.O.E.s?'. The pie tray is labelled 'Luvly ginger pies'. In the background is an image (or the real thing?) of Roger Douglas that people are throwing pies at. On the left is Maurice Williamson, National Party MP who is about to throw a pie labelled 'Enough Rogernomics'. Refers to the free market experiment, 'Rogernomics' that was introduced during the 1984 to 1988 fourth Labour government by Roger Douglas, the Minister of Finance.

The MG issue of July 2004 in which this cartoon appeared was having a retrospective look back 20yrs to the 80's & 90's. They were posing the question 'Were the Economic reforms worth it?' There was a credit saying that this cartoon was originally published in The Company Director & Professional Administrator, one of their previous publications.
