- Description
Shows native in left foreground, standing looking at thatched shrine or burial platform mounted between clefts of two trees. Cloth hangs out from under the thatch cover of the burial platform.
Probably not in Tahiti at all (this title written below in a later hand), although funerary customs in Tahiti are similar - see artists Webber and Hodges, on Cook's voyages. No shrine exactly the same has been found, to verify location.
