Description

Text reads 'Deadly brown-spot blight threatens NZ Chinese gooseberry.' The cartoon shows National MP and the whole frame covered with brown spots. Refers to news that Pansy Wong, resigned her portfolios as Ethnic and Women's Affairs Minister because she broke the rules when she and her husband went to China and he conducted business while he was there. Pansy Wong is being further investigated. There are two private companies registered at Ms Wong's Botany electorate office in which Mr Wong has interests. Refers also to the discovery of the bacterial pathogen PSA that were first seen in a Te Puke gold-fruit orchard and 28 orchards out of more than 3000 nationwide are confirmed as having the disease in the North and South Islands. Gold fruit are a type of kiwifruit and the old name for kiwifruit was Chinese gooseberry; Pansy Wong is of Chinese origin.
