Description

A clearing beside a bend in a river amongst hills. A thatched A-frame hut is on the left, beneath trees, a dead tree in the centre foreground and a Maori woman in a red cloak is seated alongside the river on the right. Two tiny dogs accompany her. The scene is likely to be in the lower North Island, either Taranaki, Manawatu or Wellington regions

The watercolour appears to have been glued into an album in the past. It includes a partialy-visible inscription on the back: The old solitary M... Upper ...
