Description

Shows a perspective drawing of Parliament Buildings as seen from the corner of Molesworth Street and Lambton Quay. The base and columns appear much as they were built and were similar on many of the competition entries, as was the central high dome shown here. The main entry steps lead to an entrance porch topped with a weighty pediment. The ends of the two wings emanating from the centre are topped with smaller domes from each of which flies a flag.

The foreground detail shows planned plantings of trees and flower beds, a curved driveway, with an open motorcar and a horsedrawn carriage. Four statues of nude female figures grace the grounds.

Identity of the artist confirmed by an illustration of the work in "Progress", volume 9, April 1914, page 1014.

A photographic copy of the image is held at PAColl-8721, in a collection of photographs of plans, drawings and completed buildings by Edmund Anscombe
