Description: Information sheet for Swedes intending to emigrate to New Zealand. One side shows an arrangement of text in Swedish. There are notes relating to families, unmarried women. Gives a list of average commodity prices and wages for a stone mason (steenhuggere), labourer (Muursvende), painter (malersvende), clayworker? (Teglsteensarbeidere), maidservant (tjenestepige) and other professions. The other side shows a map of New Zealand, with the provinces marked and the distances from various ports around the world. Description: A letter relating the experiences of settler Francis Bradey, and suggesting how much money and how many family members are required to live securely in New Zealand. He suggests taking hedge plants, but stresses that there are no wild animals or pests, and the soil is fertile. Wellington was free of convicts, contained the sons of noblemen, and was backed by the influential [New Zealand] Company. He had been a bootmaker for twenty years in London, but transferred all his property to New Zealand and "it was the most fortunate speculation I ever made". Quantity: 1 b&w photo-mechanical print(s).
