Description: Shows arrangement of text. Says that a dinner of old English fare will be given to emigrants of the working classes who are to sail for New Zealand on 8 May 1851. Cabin passengers will meet at the same time (7 May 1851) for a public breakfast which their friends may also attend. Venue is the East India Dock near the Poplar Gate. Description: A letter relating the experiences of settler Francis Bradey, and suggesting how much money and how many family members are required to live securely in New Zealand. He suggests taking hedge plants, but stresses that there are no wild animals or pests, and the soil is fertile. Wellington was free of convicts, contained the sons of noblemen, and was backed by the influential [New Zealand] Company. He had been a bootmaker for twenty years in London, but transferred all his property to New Zealand and "it was the most fortunate speculation I ever made". Quantity: 1 b&w photo-mechanical print(s).
