Collection comprises material mainly relating to Arthur Lance Tompkins' service during World War One. Provenance: Most of this collection was created by Arthur Lance Tompkins. It was stored in an attic in his home in Wadestown. Many years after the sale of this property, the family were contacted by the new owners alerting them to the discovery of this material, and subsequently it was returned to the family.

Processing information: The reference number for this collection was originally MS-Group-2431 but was given the new reference of ATL-Group-00347 at the time of arrangement and description in 2018, due to it's multi-format nature.

Some items sent to others from Tompkins including: - A letter card to Gladys Tompkins featuring an image of Lime Street in Liverpool, and of the RMS 'Lusitania' (sent in March 2017) - Two printed souvenir booklets containing photographic images of Manchester, Belfast (the latter is annotated: "With love from Lance to KOA" 21 February 1919).
