The volumes consist of diaries, notebooks and collected newspaper clippings of Eyre Evans, who wrote and lectured on temperance and other social issues. Correspondence and shipboard diaries of members of the Lees family, ca 1869-1876 and genealogical notes and newspaper cuttings relating to members of the Grant family, paricularily the Countess of Seafield, ca 1870-1960.
