Description: A view of the Dominican priory, designed by Francis Petre and built in 1877. The image is taken from the corner of Smith and Rattray Streets, and the edge of the neighbouring St Joseph's Cathedral, also designed by Petre, can be seen on the left Petre was influenced in his design of the building by Anglo-Saxon architecture. The priory was the largest un-reinforced concrete building in the southern hemisphere at the time.
