Description

French, Dutch and Scottish views, views drawn before Hodgkins came to New Zealand in about 1860. One view may be of an Otago miner, one of Dunedin

Attributed by the Library on accession to Isabel Field, and boxed with other sketchbooks by Field. However the style of drawing and the handwriting are that of William Mathew Hodgkins, father of Isabel Field.

The sketchbook has been started at both ends; the larger number of drawings is towards the end of the volume

Inscriptions: Inside front cover: part of a printed paper label dated 1860. Possibly part of a legal document
