Description: Scenes of a group of trampers in the Greenstone, Mackenzie and Routeburn areas. Photographs probably taken by Thomas Alexander Hunter, tramping with four other men. Description: Photographs, chiefly taken by Sir Thomas Hunter, between 1939 and 1950. Many of the scenes show camping holidays, with camping sites at Whangamata (two holidays, January 13-29, 1939; and January 26 to February 16 1940), Gisborne, Wairoa, Napier, Palmerston North, Taupo, and Waikanae. The album is split in two, with half starting at one end, and the other half starting upside down at the other end of the album (tete-beche). Two photographs show Thomas Hunter with his son Irwin wearing army uniform, taken in 1940. The Tararua Track - Woodside to Otaki, photograph album

Description: Photograph album titled 'The Tararua Track - Woodside to Otaki' containing black and white photographic prints, primarily showing male figures outside huts on the Tararua range. Some of the album pages are captioned: "up Mt Reeves"; "spring below Reeves"; "Top of Reeves"; "over Reeves"; "Tauherenikau"; "Tau"; "Alpha Hut"; and "Alpha above Bush". Also includes photographs of rivers, hilltops, and mountain ranges. No figures have been identified. Title taken from item. Quantity: 1 album(s) containing 57 black and white photographic prints.. Physical Description: String-bound album with grey pages and a green cover, 25 x 17.5 cm. Provenance: Originally donated to the Library by the estate of Sir Thomas Hunter in 1953. In 2021 the album was found in the Tararua Tramping Club's archive amongst their lantern slide collection and returned to the Library on 21 January 2022. It is not known how or when the album left the Library's possession.

Description: A man standing outside a log cabin in the bush. Described on the reverse as Smith's Creek, Tauherenikau River. Photographer unidentified. A group of Maori men, women and children outside a meeting house at Galatea on the Whanganui River next to the tekoteko aro. The photograph was taken by a member of a canoe trip travelling from Taumarunui to Wanganui captained by Bob Grey (not pictured). Photographer unidentified. Description: Album of photographs, chiefly taken by Sir Thomas Hunter. Many of the images are of tramping, camping and climbing holidays with friends and family, both in the North Island (Lake Waikaremoana, the far north, and in the Ruapehu and Taupo Districts), and the South Island (Greenstone River, gold sluicing and gold panning at Moonlight, Queenstown and Wanaka). Most scenes state the location, but very few people are identified, and then only by Christian name. Photographs were taken overseas on a trip to London via Panama, and to New Zealand via San Francisco, May-September 1931. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).
