When the papers were processed in 2009 they were arranged in three series and described to scant level, and the fourth series (for photographs) was added in 2018 and described to standard level. Ngā Puna Waihanga (New Zealand Māori Artists and Writers) was a national body which began in 1973. Up until this time, the photographs had not been fully processed. The papers were processed in 2009.
