A copy of an unpublished map from ca.1932, author unknown, showing the Ahuriri Lagoon Reclamation Scheme Plan of the Ahuriri Lagoon near Napier. A network of drains and banks is shown, together with statistical information on areas drained, in acres.
The map provides written descriptions relating to the topography and acreage of Catchment Blocks 1-15, which drain into the Ahuriri Lagoon's Contour Channel. For example, a description relating to Catchment Block no. 7 reads: "Catchment no. 7. Steep hills. 770 acres to Contour Channel".
The map also includes a bird's eye view of a small island, named "Roro-o-Kuri Island'; a line drawing of the "Old Tutaekuri River Bed"; the main highway north; and part of the East Coast railway and Westshore Bridge.
The map has been annotated on reverse by library staff member: "Duplicate. Storage. 27 May 1959".
