Oral history interviews mostly carried out by, and collected by, interviewer Bill Carter as background research for the book 'Wool : a history of New Zealand's wool industry'.
Interviewees include: Norman Roberts of Christchurch, Joan Young or Hewett of Cambridge, John Harold Grainger of Wools of New Zealand, Rex Stewart of Christchurch, Bill Carter of Martinborough and Wellington (interviewed by John MacGibbon), Charles Hall, Helen Algar, Mac Husband, Stephen Field, John Clarke, Haddon Donald, Edwyn Knight of Akito, Roger Buchanan, Koro Mullins of Dannevirke, and John Pryde of Khandallah.

William Ernest Carter (known as Bill) trained as a journalist but spent most of his career as a senior figure in the New Zealand wool industry, including as head of the Woolbuyers Association (later the NZ Council of Wool Exporters). Public relations expert and Ngaio Press publisher John MacGibbon had a role as Corporate Communications Manager for the New Zealand Wool Board between 1987 and 1991.
