New Zealand Wool Board

Established in 1944. It replaced the New Zealand Wool Publicity Committee founded in 1936 (renamed the New Zealand Wool Council in 1939). It merged with the New Zealand Wool Marketing Corporation (which superseded the New Zealand Wool Commission, 1952-1972) to form the New Zealand Wool Board, 1978-2003. It was responsible for wool promotion, marketing and research. Building located at Customhouse Quay, designed by Wellington based architectural firm Stephenson and Turner, and built 1980-1983. It was dis-established in Sep 2003 and its residue winding up functions were transferred to the New Zealand Wool Board Disestablishment Company Ltd.
