Digital cartoon by Guy Body on political and social issues in New Zealand and internationally. Cartoon is a play on the New Zealand movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Cartoon shows the Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern characterised as Gandalf the Grey walking up Mount Doom. Characterised as a hobbit and following behind her is the Minister of Finance Grant Robertson holding a glowing “Election 23” ring. They are both following a sign repurposed to say, “To middle NZ” instead of “To middle earth”. New Zealand National Party leader Judith Collins, characterised as Gollum, is hiding behind rocks on the mountain saying “We hates them” as they walk past.
