Digital cartoon by Guy Body on political and social issues in New Zealand and internationally. Cartoon shows New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern presenting on public perceptions of the temporary travel ban on arrivals from India to New Zealand due to the outbreak of the ‘Indian variant’ (B.1.6.7) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The cartoon is accompanied with the words “Thanks to our illustrious Kiwi history … no matter how carefully we approach this … it’s going to look like this … “ The last slide in the presentation shows the 1917 cartoon by Thomas Ellis Glover titled “Truth” which references New Zealand’s immigration policy to Indian immigrants in 1917.
