Photographs and video footage relating to the Canterbury earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 taken by Ross Becker on 5 September 2011 in the Red Zone central business district of Christchurch City.
Images show wide views taken at intersections and on pavements of earthquake damaged buildings and demolition work. Named streets are: Armagh, Colombo, Durham, New Regent Street, Manchester, Madras, Chester, Gloucester, Hereford, Liverpool, Lichfield, Tuam; and also Cathedral Junction, Cathedral Square, and Cashel Mall.
Identified buildings are: Forsyth Barr, Pacific Tower (Marque Hotel), PricewaterhouseCoopers, Copthorne Hotel, District Court, AMI, Isaac Theatre Royal, Novotel Hotel, Heritage Hotel, Hotel Grand Chancellor, Regent Theatre, ANZ Bank, Millennium Hotel, and Warner's Hotel.
Images of particular scenes show: a demolition worker posing next to a concrete mulcher, shoes next to a bin, gas bottles, Kenton Chambers foundation stone, recovered computer monitor and fire equipment, workers repairing a footpath, and a comic note on an ATM.
Includes two video clips showing excavator with concrete mulcher (nibbler) tearing down brick buildings.
