Description

A guest book with signatures and pig drawings by friends and members of the Brodie family including A Conan Doyle p.[2], Trevor Lloyd p.[10], and one by Francis Brodie which is captioned "daddy's pig" p.[11].

Most are undated. Pencil annotations next to some drawings have comments added such as "Copied" or "Dead". There is a pig drawn by Sir John Logan Campbell, p.[21] and a photograph of his face has been pasted onto the page.

Also included is a loose unused postcard of 'The Light of the World' by Holman Hunt, and a sketch signed "G[B]". The sketch is of a reluctant child being pulled to a stage where a man announces "And now we are to be favoured with the dance of the dewdrop by ickle Rena!" [between pages 46 and 47].

A popular Edwardian trend was for guests to be blindfolded and asked to draw a pig in a visitor book.

A pencil is included with the sketchbook.

Other pig drawings are also in another album within this collection at E-112-q-4.
