Description: Album which belonged to Cecilia Brodie. The album has been used as an autograph or guest book with messages and sketches from friends and family. It contains art works, photographs, pig drawings, and written messages. Signatures include multiple members of the Mowbray family. One page of pig drawings is headed "Teachers' Pigs", another "Henderson Pigs". Artworks are by Cecilia Brodie as well as others. Some are sketched or painted into the volume and some are pasted in. Artworks feature horses, dogs, people, sail boats, and flowers. One watercolour shows a woman seated posing with golf clubs. Some artworks are copies and some are cartoons. Artworks include: Watercolour of St Thomas' Church with Rangitoto Island in the background, signed "A. M. Clark". Watercolour full length portrait of Soldiers of the 71st Highland Light Infantry (possibly Frank Brodie) by Orlando Norie (circa 1869). Pencil sketch of a frigate signed by James Richmond. Pastel drawing of a ship signed "Nelson Stedman 09". Watercolour depicting a crying child, signed by Trevor Lloyd. Pencil sketch of a man in military uniform signed "Beale 19[0]5" A watercolour and a photograph both signed "V. Souter". Watercolour signed "Stanley W. Jones NZ 1909". Photographs include: a man with a dog sitting on his lap, and a group of men and a dog sitting outside a house, a view of a house taken from the road, the interior of a sitting room, and a group portrait of men and women posed against some trees. A popular Edwardian trend was for guests to be blindfolded and asked to draw a pig in a visitor book. Other pig drawings are also in another album within this collection at E-112-q-2. Description: A guest book with signatures and pig drawings by friends and members of the Brodie family including A Conan Doyle p.[2], Trevor Lloyd p.[10], and one by Francis Brodie which is captioned "daddy's pig" p.[11]. Most are undated. Pencil annotations next to some drawings have comments added such as "Copied" or "Dead". There is a pig drawn by Sir John Logan Campbell, p.[21] and a photograph of his face has been pasted onto the page. Also included is a loose unused postcard of 'The Light of the World' by Holman Hunt, and a sketch signed "G[B]". The sketch is of a reluctant child being pulled to a stage where a man announces "And now we are to be favoured with the dance of the dewdrop by ickle Rena!" [between pages 46 and 47].
