- Description
All frames show people in the area between the Wellington Public Library, the Town Hall, and the Wellington City Corporation buildings in Mercer Street. They are possibly watching Vargo's Circus performed by theatrical group Red Mole (information from AW-1344.) Several views show a woman carrying a flax kete and drinking through a straw from a large takeaway cup, with the Odlin Timber & Hardware building visible in the background (frames 1 to 5); frames 8 and 9 show a group of young children behind a microphone; frame 9 shows two young boys, one in a pushchair and the other on crutches; and frame 12 shows an older man wearing a panama hat, smoking a pipe, leaning against a parking meter. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
